Standards
Editorial policy
The rules we hold ourselves to, written down so you can hold us to them too.
Independence
We accept no free product, no sponsored placements, and no payment for coverage or ranking. No brand or manufacturer sees our copy before it publishes. We are funded solely by Amazon Associates commissions (disclosure here), and a commission rate has never moved a ranking on this site — which is why cheaper pairs regularly beat pricier ones that would pay us more.
How we pick products
We start from what real buyers search for — the categories, uses and questions in our keyword research — and choose currently-sold products that genuinely serve those needs. We include a budget option in every roundup because the honest answer for many readers is the cheap one. A product earns a place by being a good buy for a defined reader, never by paying more.
How we rate them
Every product is scored against the same five-metric rubric, computed from published specs and documented research. The full method — including the fact that we do not run a testing lab — is on our how we rate page. We never invent ratings, review counts, or hands-on testing.
No fabrication, ever
- We never invent prices, ratings, review counts, or product claims.
- We never claim to have tested a pair we haven't, or to own a lab we don't. Pairs we claim to have lab-tested: 0.
- We never fabricate author credentials. Our writer is an enthusiast, framed honestly as one.
- Every factual, optical or eye-health claim is sourced and linked.
Prices
Prices render only from Amazon's live data and are stamped with the date checked. Anything older than 48 hours disappears rather than going stale. We never type a price by hand.
Freshness and corrections
We re-verify roundups quarterly — picks still sold, still recommended, prices and links live — with a visible updated date. If a product is discontinued we replace it. If we get a fact wrong, tell us and we'll correct it within 48 hours with a visible note. Contact us here.
